NEWSPAPER STRIKE
PLENTY OF LABOUR OFFERING. [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] PERTH, August 14. With the help of other departments and of the typists and of other “free” labour, the newspaper “Western Australian” produced an eight-page issue to-day. The afternoon paper, “The Daily News.” is managing to produce a
small paper in similar fashion.The strikers are picketing both of the offices. The “West Australian” has received three hundred applications from skilled operators and others, offering their services. LANG GOVERNMENT MOVE. SYDNEY, August 14. The Lang Government has decided to repeal the Crime Intimidation and Molestation Act, which was passed by the Bavin Government, in 1929, during the timber workers’ strike. This Act prevents mass picketing, and also unlawful assemblies, or the molestation of “free” labourers on the occasions of strikes or lock-outs.
