LINDBERGHS AT NOME. [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] NOME, August 11. Colonel and Mrs Lindbergh landed • safely at a bay on the Nome River, 21 miles outside Nome, at 10.20 a.m. today, they having flown from Shimaref, in Kotzebue Sound. NEW GUINEA TRAGEDY. SYDNEY, August 12. The body of J. L. Trist, of the Guinea Airways, missing since May, was discovered in the jungle. His airplane was wrecked. There are no particulars. GOOD SOLO FLIGHT. SYDNEY, August 12. H. F. Broadbent, a prominent Australian aviator, accomplished a notable solo flight to-day, covering the distance between Brisbane and Adelaide, via Sydney and Melbourne, in one day, a distance of about 1350 miles. He left Brisbane just after midnight, and reached Adelaide about G p.m. There was bad weather most of the trip. He now plans to fly round Australia in seven days. OVERDUE SURVEYOR. (Received August 13, 1 p.m.) ' COPENHAGEN, August 12. A metal cylinder has been found on the Jutland coast. It presumably belongs to Cramner’s machine, and hope has now been abandoned. Nevertheless, the trans-American Line is continuing preparation for further surveys. WAIKATO MISHAP. HAMILTON, August 12. A private three-seater monoplane, owned and piloted by Mr S. Blackmore, of Hamilton, made a forced landing near the Terapa Aedrodrome this evening. The pilot, with a passenger, Mr W. McKenzie, of Te Awamutu, were returning from a flight. When over Hamilton the engine stalled. They could not reach the aerodrome, as there was a high wind. They landed on a rough slope, the . plane being stopped by a fence 20 feet from a house. The undercarriage was broken. The occupants were unhurt.
