ADDINGTON DOUBLE MARKET. [per press association.] CHRISTCHURCH. August 5. This week’s market at Addington was the National “double” one, an-1 it attracted, as usual, Show stock in the fat sections. The display in the fat cattle section was slightly better di an for some years. The North Island was strongly represented, and also Lie South Island, including the West Coast. Sheep: A moderate entry, mostly ewes of mixed appearance. A dragging sale with many passings. Values were: Good S.M. half and crossbred ewes 14/to 16/10 medium S.M. half and crossbred ewes 10/- to 12/6, plain S.M: half and. crossbred ewes 6/- to 9/-, good six and eight-tooth Corriedale ewes to Spring Lambs: Entry 61 head; disappointing quality. Top price was 43/4. Other values ranged down to 12/4. Fat Sheep: An entry of 5600 and a keen sale, with the demand well maintained. There was a consignment of 492 sheep from the North Island. 'lheie was a general advance of 1/- a head on all classes. Values were: Show wethers to £2 18, extra prime heavy wethers 22/- to 24/-, prime 18/6 to 21/-, medium 15/- to 18/-, l.’ght 12/- to 14/G, Show ewes to 25/-, extra prime 19/6 to 21/6. prime heavy 17/6 to 19/-, prime 15/- to 17/-, medium 11/- to 14/6, light 9/- to 10/6, Show hoggets to 30/4, extra prime 21/- to 22/6, prime 18/- to 20/-, medium 15/- to 17/6, light 10/- to 14/-. Fat Cattle: Entry of 563. The quality was tho best seen at a ‘‘National sale for some years. Many Show cattle were entered. Special Show bullocks £36 to £5l, good Show bullocks £2O to £23 17s Gd, extra prime £l5 to £l7 17s Gd, prime £ll 10s to £l4 10s, medium, weight £() to £ll ss, ordinary £6 15s to £8 15s, rough £5 to £6 10s, Show heifers to £l3 7s 6d, extra prime to £ll 10s, prime £;\los to £ll, medium £6 5s to £8 ss, light £4 to £6. Extra prime cows to £ll 7s Gd, prime £7 15s to £lO 10s, medium £6 to £7 10s, rough cows £4 to £5 15s. Apart from tho Show cattle, values per lOOlbs. ranged up to 31/for primest sorts, 27/- to 29/6 for medium weight, 25/- to 27/- for heavy weight. Good heifer beef to 28/1, best cow;; 25/-, medium 20/- to 23/-, rou’gh beef down to 15/- per lOOlbs.
Fat pigs: An entry of fair size only. Porkers were of good quality and there was a fair demand, with prices on a level with those ruling last week. Choppers £3 to £8 10s, baconers 47/6 to 52/6, heavy baconers 57/6 to £3 # 2s 6d, extra heavy baconers £3 10s to £3 14s 6d; average price per lb. 4Ad to 5Ad; porkers 33/- to 38/6, heavy porkers 40/- to 46/6, average' price per lb. 53d to 63d.
