FIRE OUTBREAKS
ACCOMMODATION HOUSE fPBB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] BLENHEIM, August 6. The Rai Valley accommodation house on the road to Nelson, owned by M. Hart, leased by G. Moseley, of sixteen rooms, was totally destroyed by fire this morning at half past two. It was built six years ago. The eleven inmates only had time to escape in night attire. Splendid work by the residents saved an adjoining store and bakehouse owned by M. Hart. The very heavy frost durnight made it difficult at first to obtain water which hampered efforts. Telephone wires were burnt through. The insurances are not yet known, but Hart and Moseley are heavy losers. x * NELSON, August 6. Fire destroyed the whole front portion of the Wairoa Motor Garage Company’s premises at midnight. Fifteen cars were burnt and stocks were damaged by smoke and water. The brigade effected a smart save. The fire was extinguished within five minutes of the alarm. The building and contents were insured (Norwich Union).
