GRAIN AND PRODUCE. [per press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, July 10. With potatoes and wheat attracting so little attention, there is not much left in the grain and produce trade to create interest. Seeds are now in the off season, but the demand generally sets in at the end of July for seed for spring sowing. Potatoes are being freely offered, and there is no improvement in prospects. The Wingatui in mid-week took 4000 sacks for the north from Timaru and Lyttelton, this cargo following on 7700 sacks by the preceding boat, the Waipiata, also from both ports. Whites are quoted 27/G a ton on trucks, Dakotas 25/-, or 42/6 f.0.b., s.i. for prompt whites, and 45/- for August-Septembers. Fowl wheat is offering more freely, and business has been done at 5/1 f.o.b. Milling values are unchanged, ranging from 5/o£d to 5/5 on trucks. There is little business, most of the milling trade being supplied for some time ahead. Southern ryegrass of light weight (24 to 251 b) machine dressed is quoted 2/9 bushel. There is no alteration in local values of ryegrass and in those of cocksfoot and clovers, but quotations are practically nominal. The oats market is lifeless, and there is only small business in chaff. STOCKS AND SHARES. AUCKLAND, July 11. Sales: Grand Junction 3/1; Bank of Now Zealand, 4S/3; South British 51/3. Reported. Waihi 15/6, Australian Glass 24/6, Colonial Sugar £35. BUTTER AND CHEESE
