CHRISTCHURCH, July 9.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Council opened to-day. The Chairman (Mr H. B. Oakey) congratulated the Auckland Executive on the running of the last Dominion tournament. Officers elected were:—President, Mr Oakey! secretary, Mr W. G. Brass. The meeting confirmed the donation of £lOO to the East Coast Centre for reconstruction of their greens damaged by the ’Quake, and approved of further grants being made. The Hawkefs Hay delegates said that it would take £7OO to reconstruct the greens. They were deeply grateful for the grant.

Following a conference with the fighters’ managers, William Saxe, president of the Maddison Square Garden, announced to-day that Schmeling and Camera will meet some time in the early autumn for the championship. Hunter defeated Phil Bagby (Kansas City) 6/0, 6/0, 6/3; Koze.luh defeated Harold Moore (Mont Claim) by default.
