ENGLISH CUP FINAL

WON BY WEST BROMWICH HEAVY RAIN ALL DAY [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, April 25. The English Cup final at Wembley was the attest in history. West Bromwich Albion beat Birmingham by 2- to 1. , , Rain poured throughout the day, drenching the thousands of provincials who were walking the streets and were reluctant to enter the ground early for a wait in the deluge. There were 92,406 present, including an unusually large number of women. The usual 'number of “hard-ups” -tramped from the provinces. . The Duke of Gloucester came out in the downpour and shook hands with the players. The ground was like a sponge, and was fit only for mudGregg headed the ball into the net for Birmingham, but the referee disallowed the goal'for offside. Bromwich were playing a young side. An eighteen year did player, Sandford, the inside right, twice shot-, the ball hitting the referee. Richardson, the centre, scored after hard play for twenty-five minutes. Bromwich continued the pressure, but Richardson missed an open goal. Then Bradfoid snapped up brilliantly a long, pass and scored an equalising goal amidst thunderous applause, which, however, had hardly ended when Richardson tricked three defenders, but lost the ball, which rebounded from the defenders legs, giving Richardson an easy winning shot. . The crowd went delirious as the mud-bespattered victors approached the Royal box to receive the cup and medals. The whole city of Birmingham seemed to have migrated to London for the cup final. Amongst the distinguished people present were Mr. R. MacDonald, Miss Ishbel MacDonald, and Mr. and Mrs ’ Baldwin. OTHER MATCHES. First Division: Aston Villa v. Manchester C. 4/2; Bolton W. v.
