GOLF

GREYMOUTH LADIES’ CLUB. The annual meeting of the Ladies’ Branch of the Greymouth Golf Club was held last evening, the captain, Mrs Smith, presiding over an attendance of Mesdames Fogarty, Meldrum, Hogg, Johstone, and Misses C. Tennent, N. Tennent, Iles, and Reynolds. The annual report was read as follows: —Your Committee have pleasure in submitting the annual report for 1930: It is pleasing to report a highly successful season in every way. The match programme was successfully concluded. The usual inter-club matches with Hokitika were played on June 3, and Greymouth were fortunate to win the senior cup. Friendly games with both the Hokitika and Reeftoh clubs were much enjoyed, and we have to thank the ladies of these clubs for their hospitality. The new arrangement for afternoon tea was quite satisfactory. Th© West Coast tournament held in Hokitika was enjoyed by a few of bur members, Miss Berry, Mrs Hannan, and Miss Reynolds winning trophies. The ladies’ championship of our own club was won by Mrs Hannan, Miss N. Tennent being runner-up. The Oinoto Cup and two other trophies were also, won by Mrs Hannan. We have to thank those persons presenting trophies during the ..season, namely, Mrs A. Smith, Miss N. Tennent and Miss Reynolds; .also the Press for its assistance during the year.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted.

The following officers were elected: ’Captain, Mrs Smith; secretary, Miss Reynolds; handicap manageress, Miss M. Warnes; committee, Mrs Fogarty and Mrs Hannan. The following new members were elected: Miss O’Meara, Miss M. Hannan, Mrs Baxter, Miss Cai ter, Miss Thomson. AVeek-day players, Miss Phillips, Mrs Meade, Miss Adams.

Votes of sympathy were accorded to Misses Skinner and Doogan who had sustained bereavements during the year.

It was decided that th© opening day (April 18) be a general tea day. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the out-going office-holders.
