OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT A double star programme will be presented to-night and to-morrow. The famous gardens of Monte Carlo were reproduced at the First National Studios for “Son of the Gods,” the Richard Barthelmess special. These gardens with their terraces, with gay pleasure-seekers from the world over form one of the scenic spots of the Riviera. The other star feature is “In the Next Room,” a chilling, thrilling, but mirthful mystery thriller. Eerie events take place in an old house where a murder had taken place forty years previously. “Son of the Gods,” and the first chapter' of a new serial entitled “The Indians are Coming” will be screened at to-morrow’s matinee.
BLACKBALL—TO-NIGHT “Young Eagles” will be presented to-night and to-morrow (Saturday). “HAPPY-GO-LUCKY O’FLYNN” An ideal play for a race night is “Happy-go-Lucky O’Flynn,” . the now celebrated comedy which should prove here no less popular than it has done elsewhere. It is being presented to-night at Town Hall by Rily Productions Ltd., and the cast will be headed by Ronald Riley, a distinguished English light comedian, whose new comedy company come direct from a two years’ tour of Africa and the East. “Happy-go-Lucky O’Flynn,” a most amusing modern comedy, the composition of Barry Connors, the noted author of “The Patsy,” is shown by arrangement with the firm of J. C. Williamson, Ltd. The theme of the piece is indicated by saying that Larry O’Flynn, an amusing scapegrace with a, sense of humour, would sooner be happy than rich, also he wants everyone else to feel that way. His manoeuvres to secure his sweetheart against the wishes of her father and mother, his unfriendly uncle and a rival suitor, who has their support, result in a series of diverting situations that are ingeniously worked out with witty, pointed dialogue. In addition to Mr. Riley, who is a host in himself Doreen Sdott, a charming young comedienne, Marie D’Alton, Mirian Osborne, and Zara “the girl with the voice of gold,” will be seen in clever characterisations, also Messrs McCallum, Beeby, Lanphier, Kelly and Brogden.
