Five miles away was the rescue ship Sagona, with the Viking survivors taken from Horse Island, aboard, prepared to leave for St. John’s. Heavy gales prevail. The ships have searched - every foot of the ice for twenty-two miles beyond where the yiking disaster occurred, without a trace of further victims. The captains advised against an aerial search.
