IMPORTANT EXPERIMENTS
RUGBY, February 28
Mr. Montague (Under-Secretary for Air), informed the House of Commons to-day, at the request of the Court of Inquiry into the R.lOl disaster, that certain experiments were being carried out at the National Physical Laboratory, -with a view to fixing more definitely, the cause of the accident. Very valuable resullts were expected from these experiments, which were not yet complete, although most of the inquiry’s report was ready, it would be impossible to complete it before the experiments were concluded.
MELBOURNE TO BRISBANE
BRISBANE. March 1
Jack Turner, in a light plane, reached Brisbane from Melbourne in nine hours forty-five minutes.
NEW EMPIRE SERVICE
RUGBY, February 28
The new Empire air route, connecting London with Central Africa, was inaugurated by Imperial Airways this morning, when a nine-ton air liner left for India and North and Central Africa. There were fifty bags of mail, containing approximately 40,000 letters.
