LONDON, January 23.
“The Times’s” Rome correspondent states: The spectacular career of Coinmendatore Riccardo Gualino, the international financier, and one of Italy’s biggest business men, has ended with his arrest on an undisclosed charge, but it is attributed to the grave situation of the Banca Agricola, which was the instrument of his speculations. Gualino pioneered the artificial silk industry. He led the life of a grand seignur, and had a magnificent picture gallery, owned a Moorish castle in the Riveira. and a stud of racehorses, haveing purchased famous thoroughbred in England. He also bought newspapers.
Gualino’s connection with the Oustrice Bank affair in Paris was revealed during the Paris inquiry.
