QUEENSLAND CANE-WORKERS
ANGLO-ITALIAN CLASH. (Bi OABLB—PBBSS ASSN.— BRISBANE, December 1. A serious clash occurred in J the vicinity of Tully, between British and foreign nationals engaged in the sugar fields, many being injured. The combatants being all caneworkers. ■ Sticks, stones, bottles, knives and pistols were used. George Norris sustained a wound in the chest ten inches long, and Hairy Robertson has a knife stab in the. back, while one Italian has a bullet wound in the leg, and there is one Italian woman suffering from a wound in the head. Five other Italians have had to be treated in the hospital for cuts and abrasions. The clash was the outcome of bad feeling, due to an ever-increasing influx of foreigners.
