SEAMAN’S DESPERATE VENTURE
[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, November 24. In the teeth of a south-westerly gale on Saturday night, Hugh Jones, 49, seaman, left the Rotoroa inebriates’ island, in a dinghy, without proper oars. He rowed with poles on which he nailed bits of board. ; Ho landed at daybreak near Tamaki. He took bus to the city, and latei’ in the day was arrested, and today was remanded on a charge of escaping.
