The Greymouth Orchestral Society’s
first concert is assured of being well patronised. Applications from subscription members are rapidly being received, and the bookings must be closed shortly in order that Box Plan for reservations (which are free of charge) may be opened. The Orchestral renderings are nearing perfection and subscribers are assured of a de-
lightful evening’s entertainment. The Orchestral instrumentation is fully equipped and the ensemble of Strings, Woodwind and Brass will give the tonal effects called for in the performance of the various iten\s.
HOUSE TO-NIGHT. Clive Brook uses more disguises in his role of the Conan Doyle detective in thd Paramount Picture, “The* Return of Sherlock Holmes.” An -Austrian violinist, a ship steward and an officer’s orderly, are a few of his assumed characters. “The Return of Sherlock Holmes” will be seen for the last time to-night. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. Unique in story, rocking with laughs, “something different” in talking pictures, “One Hysterical Night,” Universal comedy starring Reginald Denny is one of the star attractions for to-morrow night and Saturday. “One Hysterical Night” emerges from the outpouring of talking pictures as the comedy film that is different, built around a new situation and in which the dialogue and plot produces howls of laughter. The other feature is “Gentlemen of the Press.” Walter Huston, who plays the leading role is one of the best-known actors of the American stage. Because of his fine voice and his historic ability, he has been signed for talking-pictures, and is climbing well to the front. “Gentlemen of the Press” tells of the many sacrifices made by newspapermen so that the world might be supplied with news. MONDAY AND TUESDAY.
“The Mysterious Dr Fu Manchu,” a picture that has been acclaimed by tlio press and public to bo the best
picture of its kind presented in the Dominion, will be screened at the Opera House on Monday and Tuesday next.
