WELLINGTON, October 25. Following the Acting Prime Minister’s statement on the cinema film situation, Sir Victor Wilson, representing some of the film renting corporations, said, in an interview that he had explored, without satisfaction, every avenue for settlement. “It is not for me to dictate to the Government as to the laws,” he said. “All I can say is that we cannot trade under the conditions imposed. I fully realise the seriousness of the position, and regret it. The Government should legislate to bring films in, not shut them out. Closed theatres only mean one thing, the bailiff. I am anxious that such alternative will not be necessary.” _____
