[OUE OWN COBBESPONDENT.] REEFTON, October 3. Tho rainfall recorded at Reefton for the month of September whs 5.87 inches. Rain fell on 13 days, the maximum fall being I.UHn. on September 26. For September, 1929, the fall was 6.44111. and for September, 1928, 14.99 in. At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Chas. Nevin, J.P., Anthony Shannon was charged with being an incorrigible rogue and vagabond and sentenced to four months’ imprisonment at Paparua Prison. Mr and Mrs Hawkey, of Timaru, are visiting Reefton, and are the guests of Mr and Mrs M. Waddell, Walsh Street.

The output of coal from the Perfection Collieries is now over 1000 tons per month. This is very satisfactory from the viewpoint of the district’s welfare and the industry of the men employed. Mr N. Collins has secured the contract for the town delivery of the coal. The condition of Mrs E. Bolitho, Blacks Point, is still critical, and so far shows no sign of improvement. The Gloom Chasers Company showed here last night to a crowded house. All the items presented were accorded hearty applause and were well received. A return visit is promised at an early date.
