The oil companies to-day announced an increase of two-pence per, gallon in the price of petrol. This is due to recent extra taxation. The best spirit is now 2/3 per gallon.
LIBEL ALLEGED.

Mr. F. T. Sung, Chinese ConsulGeneral for Australia, has issued a writ for alleged libel against the Associated Newspapers, Ltd., claiming £lO,OOO in respect of an article in last Sunday’s “Guardian.”
MEAT BOARD’S CONCESSION SYDNEY, October 2
The Metropolitan Meat Board announces a fifty per cent, reduction fees in the Flemington sheep cattle yards. Stock owners will thus reap a saving of upwards of £12,000 annually. The Board members voluntarily cut their own salaries, and whereevcr possible are effecting economies.
