Mr. W. D. Panckhurst left, to-day on a visit to Timaru. Mr. L. Exton, of the Greymouth Railways Department, left to-day on transfer to Christchurch. Miss A. Mills, High Street, was a passenger by this morning’s express to Christchurch. » Miss K. Spencer, South Beach, left by to-day’s express, on an extended holiday to 'the North Island. 'Miss N. Syme, Runanga, who has been on a holiday visit to Christchurch, will return to-day. Mrs R. Jellie, who has been the guest of Mrs Volheide, Shakespeare Street, returned to Hornby by to-day’s express. Miss Anne Toker, Arahura, left today to visit her mother, Mrs E. M. Toker; who is a patient in Lewisham Hospital, Christchurch. Recent guests at Revington’s include: Mr. E. I. Garratt (Wellington), Mr. G. Watson (Dunedin), Mr. R. Spiers (Christchurch), Mr. P. H. Venables (Christchurch). The Professorial Board of Canterbury College decided to nominate two candidates—Richard John Seddon Bean and James Esmond Farrell —for Rhodes scholarships. Both are taking the law course. —Press Assn. The unveiling of the national memorial at Point Halswell, to the late Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, will be performed on Friday next by the Governor-General. Lord Bledisloe. The dedication service will be conducted by the Bishop of Wellington, Dr Sprott.—Press Assn. The death occurred at the Gres' Hospital yesterday of Mr. Frederick Lindbom, of Cardwell Street, Cobden. Deceased, who was 50 years of age, had been for several years an employee of the Greymouth Harbour Board. He was single, and is survived by his widowed mother, two sisters and three brothers. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Sunday) at 2.30 o’clock.
The wedding took place at St. George’s Church, Linwood, on Septem- * ber 6, of Mary, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maddison (Runanga), and Charles McNaughton Brown, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. Brown, of Linwood. The bride, who was escorted by Mr. A. McCulloch, wore a frock of shell pink celanese and lace with hat and shoes fo tone. Miss Maud Maddison, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore a frock of new blue celanese with hat and shoes to tone. Mr. Don McCulloch was best man. The Rev. McNeur officiated. Mrs. A. Warrilow was organist. The guests were later entertained at the residence of Mrs. A. McCulloch, Avonside. The bride travelled in an attractive navy crepe-de-chine frock trimmed with red and hat to match.
