FARMERS’ UNION
NGAHEREBRANCH MEETING A meeting of the Ngahere district branch of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Ngahere Hall on Saturday evening. Mr, A. Dalziell presided and the following members attended: — Messrs Garlick, McCallum. Cowan, Egan, Carter, W. Fisher. J. Donaldson, E. Fisher, T. Craig, F. Jacobs, S. Taylor, J. Burr, and J. Mulcare (secretary). Following the reading of a report from Messrs Mulcare and Fisher, Directors of the Ross Lime Company, in which it, was stated that, thp Hari Hari branch had decided to levy £1 a year for three years to assist the Ross Lime Company tio stabilise its finances, it was agreed that the Ngahere branch follow that lead. Remits as follow wore approved for submission Io the West Coast I’rovinciaal Executive Council's meeting at Greymouth to-morrow: (1) That the Government be congratulated on its decision to increase the duly oil foreign timber. (2) 'that the action of the Government in withdrawing the preferential rate on Canadian motor cars as a reprisal for the Canadian Government’s action in increasing the duty on dairy produce from Now Zealand, be strongly supported. The Secretary was instructed to write Mr. McNair, District Railway Engineer, asking him to meet settlers when on bis next visit to the West Coasl with regard to the state ol the road leading to the Matai station. The matter of looking into the question of starting a dental clinic at, the Ngahere School was left in the hands of Mr. .1. Donaldson, Chairman of the Ngahere School Committee. Mr. 11. G. Carter reported tin the progress of Ihe herd test ing movement ami Mr. W. Fisher reported on the business conducted at the Dominion Executive meeting.
