The final bouts to-morrow night will be broadcast from the Palmerston North station, 2ZF, on 285 metres, 1050 kilocycles. HEAVY-WEIGHT’S COLLAPSE. PALMERSTON NORTH, August 23. During the progress of the boxing championships last evening, «P. Rush. (Blenheim), competing in the heavyweight class, collapsed during an interval between the bout -with R. Nicol (Southland), and was carried from the ring unconscious. He was admitted to the hospital and was undergoing an operation at an early hour this morning. His condition is stated to be serious. The bout was not strenuous, and Rush did not appear to receive a blow to cause any serious injury to the head, which would account for the collapse. COUNCIL DECISIONS PALMERSTON N., Aug. 23. The annual conference of the New Zealand Boxing Association was resumed this morning. In reply to a request that the secretary keep a register of all professional boxers in the Dominion and keep Associations informed, the secretary stated that Associations were obliged to notify him when boxers were imported, but his source of information was. mainly the newsnarmrs. The appeal lodged by 'l'/owern against six months’ disqualification was discussed, the secretary saying the appeal was dismissed but the committee instructed the Council to restore Trowern’s license on August 18. The speakers criticised the action oi ’the Committee stating it was no part of their duty to reduce a sentence. The President: It looks as if the Committee exceeded their powers.. A motion was passed recommending the transference of money from the general fund to the insurance fund to build the latter up.
