There are not many places as small as Runanga in the Dominion which can boast of a Swimming Club, Tennis Club, Croquet. Club, and. last, but. not. least, a Bowling Club. The first meeting of the Runanga branch of the Women’s Institute was held in the Gymnasium social room on Thursday afternoon, when there was a large number present. Mrs Mca.dc presided. Many varied and useful articles were exhibited by members and the keen interest shown augurs well for tho success of this branch. The motto for the day was. ‘■lt’s the effort of every blade of grass that keeps the whole field green.” The Blanket Socfety are holding their annual ’nan in the Miners’ Hal! on Friday night. Williams’ Orchestra has been, engaged and will provide the music. Supper arrangements are in the hands of a capable ladies’ committee. The floor will be in first class order for the dancers and a good night’s dancing should be enjoyed by Hie large number that, is expected to be present. Prizes will be given for the best fancy dress and most humoicus, whilst a prize will also be. given to lite one- who has the best paper dress. Good bus arrangements have been made for the convenience ol town patrons.
