The death is announced from Sydney of Mr H. T. Hamilton, a former Judge of the New South Wales District Court and Quarter Sessions. He was a leading golfer, and was vicepresident of the Royal Agricultural Society.
The -Admiralty announces that ViceAdmiral William Kelly is to be the Commander-in-Chief of the China Naval Station in succession to Admiral Sir Arthur Warstell. The appointment is to date from December 12 next.
A cablegram from Halifax stated * that Prime Minister Rhodes, of Nova Scotia, resigned on Monday to accept the portfolio of Fisheries in the Dominion Government. The Minister of Public Works (Mr Gordon Harrington) succeeds him as Premier.

The death occurred at the Westland Hospital yesterday of Mr. William Scott, aged 53 years, a native of Hokitika, where at -one time he held the position of Harbourmaster. His widow resides at Christchurch, and his sisters are Mrs. Thomas and Miss Catherine Scott’, of Hokitika.
Miss A. C. Wick, assistant commercial instructor, tendered her resignation at last evening’s meeting of the Board of Governors of the Technical High School,' on account of her forthcoming marriage. The Board in accepting the resignation, voiced its appreciation of the services Miss Wick had rendered to the school, and expressed best wishes for her future happiness.
The wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church this morning'-of Mr George McClintock, only son of Mr and Mrs McClintock, of Brighton (Christchurch) to Mass Violet Mayne, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Mayne, Ngahere. Archdeacon Jermyn officiated. The bride wore a frock of white georgette. The bridesmaid, Miss Amanda Mayne, wore a frock of pink georgette. Mr and Mrs McClintock left, by this morning’s express on a tour of the North Islands
The wedding took place last evening of Mr Sydney Pope, a son oij Mr and Mrs F. G. Pope, of Runanga, and Miss Ann Gallacher Low, a daughter
of Mr and Mrs J. Low, of Runanga.
The ceremony was performed at St. ■ Patrick’s Church by the Rev. Father Holohkn. The bride wore a frock of cream English crepe-de-chine. > The bridesmaid, Miss Ada Low, a sister of the bride,, wore a frock of pale blue georgette with hat. and shoes to match. A reception was held at the residence of Mrs H. Hahn, a sister of the bride. Mr and Mrs Pope left by this morning’s express for Christchurch and Wellington.
