TAYLORVILLE SCHOOL
[to the editor.] Sir, —May I bring before the public an injustice that is being done to Miss Creagh, head-teacher of the.Taylorville school,, as well as to the children, who are under her control in that school. Miss Creagli, who has given many years to the teaching profession, and who has taught in schools throughout the Dominion, and who is recognised as a first-class teacher, has .now received notice Worn the Canterbury Education Board that her services terminate on the 31st of this month. No reason has been stated for this action bn the part of Canterbury Education Board. All the children attending the Taylorville school fairly worship Miss Creagh, and the parents all claim her as being one of the best teachers that have been in charge of this school for very many years. The members of the School Committee say they are more than satisfied with her services. It may possibly be argued by the Board that Miss Creagh, is to make room for a male teacher, so that football can be taught at the school, but if such a lame excuse should be put forward, then I would say that as there are four teachers at“ this school, all of whom are female teachers, one of the junior teachers should be transferred to another school, so as to mhke room for a male teacher. I would like to know what the Teachers’ Institute have, to say about this matter. I also feel that the public of Taylorville school district should rise in a body and enter a strong protest. Mr. Smeaton, Mayor of Brunner should call a public meeting at lonce, in the Taylorville school, as a protest. Yours etc., PARENT. —
