U.S.A. WHEAT. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.] WASHINGTON, July 22. Mr Legge, on returning from a tour of the wheat States, promptly denounced the politicians, generally for issuing what he termed “bunk” about the Farm Board and the wheat situation. He stated clearly that he be- , lieves . that regulated prqduction provides the only solution to the , growers’ problem. Stabilisation, he said, would work admirably upon seasonal surpluses, but it could not be made ' to work on permanent cumulative surpluses. SOCIAL LEGISLATION. ' - -4/ LONDON, . July 22.. ' Mr Ramsay MacDonald, addressing inter-Parliamentary representatives, . said that in the interests of peace and economy, inter-Parliamentary contacts should be more efficient. International understandings were retarded by nations negotiating on the assumption that the worst would happen. The world must not merely pass peace resolutions; it must give attention to great programmes for social wellbeing. Those Parliamentarians of any nation tolerating low standards of living were enemies not only of their own nation, but of all others. Social legislation was more and more becoming an international effort, and all should fall in line therewith.
