JEWELLERS ROBBED
DARING WELLINGTON THEFT.
[PEE press association.]
WELLINGTON, June 18
Within full view of passers-by, a daring robbery took place in the heart of the city, between six and seven o’clock last evening, when for the third time in twelve months, entrance was forced into the shop of Alex and Company, jewellers and watchmakers, Parish Street. Some diamond rings
and watches were stolen. A hole, about six inches square, was cut in the thick plate glass of the doorway, close to the handle. Several motor cars were parked in the vicinity round about the time the burglary took place, and considering the number of people who use the street, it is difficult, in the circumstances, to imagine that the thieves were not seen.
