LEAGUE FOOTBALL

WEEK-END MATCHES.

A match which should attract great public interest is the one set down for decision at Wingham Park on Sunday afternoon, Ruiianga and Marist seniors. Favourable weather will find the playing field in excellent condition so that a fast and willing encounter may confidently be looked forward to. Strengthened by the inclusion of Doogan, Marist backs tomorrow will form the best rear-guard yet fielded this season, and aided by a reliable pack, of forwards, it should prove a difficult match for Runanga to win, especially with Griffiths fibsent from the latter team. At Brunner, Kohinoor meet the home team, and with each side handicapped with several players on the injured list this match may quite as likely finish in favour of the unlucky Kohinoor team, as in favour of Brunner. Nelson Creek will be without the services of Calder and O’Brien, when they line out to meet the Blackball team, but the latter’s back line will have to carry on without the clever Dodds, and this absence means a bigger handicap to Blackball than does that of the two big forwards, to Nelson Creek. Other grade matches will be played at Dunollie, Wingham Park, Waiuta, and Nelson Creek. CLUB TEAMS. Brunner seniors to play Kohinoors at Brunner on Sunday at 2.45 p.m.— Ross, Hunt, Dunn, Ellery, Hatton, Wilson, O’Connell, Bernard, McCarthy, Cutbush, Davidson, O'Connor, Ryan and Smith.
