Anthony Trollope, the famous Victorian novelist, hated tobacco at one time. That, was before he began to write novels. When ho became a weaver of plots and a delineator of character, Ho sought—and found—as so many writers do, inspiration in the weed. But ho was a, fastidious smoker and to the end of his days avoided tobacco heavily charged with nicotine, knowing full well that sooner or later, the' poison would exact the penalty of shattered nerves or diseased heart. Had our popular New Zealand tobaccos been to the fore in Trollope’s day they must have appealed to him, because, owing to being toasted (as no other are) they are al-
most entirely freo from nicotine and perfectly harmless— something that canot bo claimed for the foreign tobaccos, al of them remarkable for the largo quantity of nicotine they contain. Tho N.Z. are tho only toasted tobaccos manufactured j u the Dominion. Noto the names of the brands: Riverhead Gold, Navv Cu( -avendisb, and Cut Plug No. 10—and bewaro of imitations!*
