“HIRE AND FIRE.”
[BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.]
SYDNEY, May 5.
Still another attempt to settle the coal dispute is going on in Sydney between the parties. The miners’ leaders have approached the coal owners to obtain assurances that there will be - no victimisation, and that the owners will waive their right “to hire and fire.” It is understood that the coal owners have assented, and that negotiations upon other points are still proceeding. It is popularly believed 7 that the miners are at the end of their resources.
