Our Own Correspondent)

HOKITIKA, March 15. Before proceeding with the business of the meeting of the Borough Council last evening, the Mayor (Mr. Perry), referred to the death of the Hon. H. L. Michel, who he said was a great loss to the'town and district. For several years he served on the Council and for 13 years was Mayor, and set a high standard.
