The Government was defeated in the Chamber by 286 votes to 281 on a question of confidence, and has resigned. rm m LATER.. 1 he Government defeat occurred during the Budget debate. M. Tardieu de - cided to resign, but is likely to form a new Cabinet, thus it is probable that the French delegation to the Naval Conference will not be affected.
