CRICKET

’WEST COAST ASSOCIATION The fortnightly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Cricket Association was held last evening. Present: —Messrs Greenwood (chairman), Barlow, Revell, Kear, Nightingale, and Bro. Tarcisius. Apologies were received from Messrs I hornson and O’Neil. It was decided that the competition be closed after March 16, and the teams leading after that round be declared winners of this division and play the winners of the Reeftoil District competition. With regard to a protest from the Technical School against Marist third grade team, for playing three junior players, it was decided in view of the irregularities and breaches of the rules by all four teams in this grade to take no action, but if the Technical Club so desire, the match be replayed. The breaches referred to have been occasioned mostly by shortage of players and it was considered preferable to have four teams in the field even if it meant including junior players to make up the teams.

REEFTON The Reefton v. Waiuta match took place on th© Reefton Racecourse yesterday and produced an exciting finish. Waiuta batted first and scored 179 (O’Donnell 35, A. Brought and J. Read each 29). Reefton had about two hours to go to get this total. The fix st wicket fell when eight had been scored, two for 21 and three for 29. Tlien Blom and Pascoo became associated and hit out, and gave the Waiuta team some good leather hunting. With sixteen minutes to time being called Reelton required 22 runs to win, and the over produced 9 runs. This left 12 to get, and of this 9 were scored off the first three balls. Then a wide was bowled and a full pitched one was sent to Blom, who slipped it for 4 and won the game, he being not out with 102 and Pascoe not out with 50. SCHOOL CRICKET.
