Sir Charles Higham, addressing the Royal Empire Society, said: British trade dwells in a wilderness of apathy. We are standing still while others wave their trade flag. We are too satisfied with ourselves, and we need waking up. The Empire’s industries must collectively organise, advertise and tell the world, or the world will forget them. The cheapest and quickest way is to tell the world through the newspapers.
