BANK ROBBERY FOILED
POLICE TRAP SUCCEEDS. (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received December 11 at 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, December 10. "The quiet village of Shakopee (Minneota) was the scene of the repulse of a bank robbery, that worked out with the precision of a movie drama. The Chief of Police received a tip that the robbers, proposed to visit the bank, and he hid riflemen in a blacksmith’s shop, with a machine gun commanding the whole situation, from a second storey -window, opposite the bank. The battle came at the scheduled hour. The tellers handed the bandits fifteen hundred dollars, then the gunfight commenced. More than a hundred shots were fired. Bud Mclnerney, a bad man from St. Paul, the bandit leader, was killed, and two companions were wounded. A unique feature was that the village butcher, without advance information of the robbery, dashed from his shop with a rifle, brought down one robber, and was receiving all the glory from the machine gun squad, when the battle ended.
