APPEAL AGAINST SENTENCE. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 4. An appeal has been lodged by Mr. Dickson, who defended George Caffery, on a charge of the murder of Thos. Levy, by stabbing, in August, against the sentence of twelve years’ hard labour on a count of manslaughte Caffery, aged 34, is a quarter-caste negro.
