TRUTHFUL LICENSEE
A GAMBLE THAT FAILED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 29. “I won’t tell any.lies. I supplied the liquor. It is all a gamble, and I took a chance.” This was the statement of John Seri ven, licensee of the Royal Tiger Hotel, to a police sergeant and a constable who found five men there at an 'illegal hour. Defendant, against whom there was no previous complaint, was fined £5. Four of the others were fined £2, and the fifth £l.
