AHAURA TOWNSHIP
PETITION TO COUNCIL. / Twenty-six residents of Ahaura petitioned the Grey County Council yesterday asking that consideration be given to the following matters which were considered to constitute a menace to the township :— The uncovered portion of Clifton i Street drain, which had been the scene of different accidents, as it was too close to the main highway for safety. The clump of blackberries in Murray Street covered the whole 'street and was a danger also to private property. Should a dry summer come, as had been experienced in recent years and fire break out, there would be very little hope of saving the township on account of there being no water supply. The rough state of the road leading to the Ahaura Catholip Church. The Council was also asked whether it could help in levelling up the Ahaura Domain, as all available funds had been spent, and although a ’lot of work had been effected a lot remained to be done to make the Domain of much use to the public. In accordance with the rule of the Council the petition was laid on the table, and it will be considered at the next meeting.
