MOST VALUED MAN
INSURED FOR MILLIONS. There is at least one man in the world whose little finger is worth more than the whole estate and expectations of most of us put together. Paderewski, whose hands are insured for £12,000, once injured a little finger, and received £lOOO. Kubelik’s fingers are insured for £4500. The man whose life is most highly valued —from an insurance point of view, at any rate, is Mr. John C. Martin, vice-presiderit of the Curtis-Martin Newspapers, Incorporated, of Philadelphia. Policies on his life are worth more than £1,900,000. Mr. Rodman Wanamaker, the head of a great chain of stores in America, Who died last year, was said to be insured for £1,500,000. Then the most precious legs belong to Mistinguette, “the Queen of the Moulin Rouge” They are insured for £200,000. Little Tich’s feet were insured, and conjurors, cricketers, and others often take precautions against suffering any professional handicaps. Charlie Chaplin has appealed to the United States Court of Appeal to insure that his baggy trousers,’ ill-fitting shoes, shrunken coat, and little stick are copyright. It has been decided that they must not bo copied. Many people just now have insured againt having bad weaker on their holidays, and less opulent fathers often take out a policy against the somewhat doubtful joy of being presented with twins.
