SHIP WRECKED
S.O.S. MYSTERY SOLVED. (Australian Press Association. (By vable—Press Assn.— Copyright.) (Received October 12, 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 12. A radio message has been received that the Bretagne, bound for Samoa from San Francisco, was a total loss. It is thought that the mysterious S.O.S. received by the Bluff radio station, was from the ill-fated vessel. There is some doubt about the ship’s identity. She may be the Danish motor .ship of 3177 tons, or an auxiliary schooner of 1028 tons both of the same name. ISLAND TRADER SAFE. SUVA, October 12. A trader, Lazarus, has been missing for several months from the British Solomon Islands, in the auxiliary vessel Hart. A search by the Government steamer Ranadi, proved fruitless. The High Commissioner at Suva today received a wireless message from the Resident Commissioner in the Solomons to the effect that he was pleased to report that Lazarus was picked up by the trader Jones at Mucapu, and now, with the crew, was at Reef Island, awaiting the mission yacht Southern Cross, to proceed to Tulagai.
