Mr.- J. Hart was a passenger on this morning’s express for Christchurch. Mrs F. Barrowman left this morning for Christchurch. Sergeant H. Tur till left this morning to attend a machine-gun N.C.O. s training course at Trentham. The death is announced from London of the Earl of Meath. He took great interest in .the Empire Day movement, and social reform work. He was born in 1841. Rev. Lionel Harvey, vicar of Cambridge, has been appointed rector of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Adelaide, in succession to Archdeacon Moyes, who is now bishop of Armidale. Mr W'. S. Pratt, of Ashburton, has received advice that his appointment as headmaster has been approved by the committee of the Reeffon District High School and confirmed by the Nelson Education Board.
