TRANSPORT BILL

NOT TO BE DROPPED. r ' (Special to ‘‘Star.’’) WELLINGTON, October 11. A special denial that the Government intends to abandon the Transport Law Amendment Bill, as has been rumoured, was made in the House today by the Minister of Transport, replying to the question by- Mr Nash. Mr Nash said that he had had a number of telegrams urging that the Transport Bill should be expedited. In view of statements made in the Press that the Bill was likely to be dropped, he asked if the Minister would say whether the Government intended to go on with it this session. The Hon. W. A. Veitch said the newspapers which published the statement had no authority for doing so. The Government had not decided to abandon the Bill and the statement was entirely without foundation. Mr Nash: Then the Bill will go on? Mr Veitch: Yes. Mr Coates: TA. very diplomatic reply.
