RHINELAND EVACUATION
REGRET BRITISH DEPARTURE
(Australian Press Association.) (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.)
(Recd. Sept. 30, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. The “Dailv News’s” correspondent at Wiesbaden states that the German band played “Old Comrades,” as the British Flag was hauled down for the last time at Konigstein barracks before the departure of the rearguard of the Leicestershires.
The town was soon bedecked in the German Republic colours, but there was no other sign of rejoicing. Some townspeople openly expressed regret at the departure of the British troops.
