MELBOURNE, September 29. In an uninteresting wrestling match, John Pesek again defeated Eustace in the sixth, with head-scissors and arm-bar fall. The crowd twice counted the pair out.

At Forest Hills, Kozeluh won the National professional tennis championship on Saturday, defeating Richards G/4, 6<4, 4/6, 4/6, 7/5. LOS ANGELES, September 27.

Mrs Shepherd Barron and Bell won the mixed doubles championship at the Pacific South-west Tournament. They defeated Miss Betty Nuthall and Farquharson 6/4, 6/4. In the semi-finals of the ladies Mrs Covell and Mrs Shepherd Barron defeated Mrs Bundy and Miss McFarland 6/3, 6/2. Miss Nuthall and Mrs Phoebe Watson defeated Mrs Harper and Miss Cross 6/3, 6/4. LOS ANGELES, September 28.

In the semi-finals, Betty Nuthall defeated Edith Cross 7/5, 6/0. Mrs Lawrence Harper (San Francisco) defeated Mrs Sheppard Barron 7/5, 2/6, 7/5. Van Ryn defeated Frank Shields 8/6, 6/4, 6/2.

BILLIARDS.

LONDON, September 28.

In his billiards match with Newman, Davis made 6820. Newman (playing) is 6473. Davis’s breaks included 353, 241, 156 and 148. Newman’s breaks included 560, 233, 338, 128 and 122. GREYMOUTH PIGEQN CLUB. The Greymouth Pigeon Club held their second race on Saturday, for which there was again a large number of birds. The contest resulted: Mr W. Jackson Junr. Elena, 1; Mr J. Jackson Junr., Boy Blue, 2; Mr O. Jackson Junr., Darkie, 3; Mi’ R. Poschich Junr., 4. The birds were conveyed to Hokitika by the morning train and released at 2 p.m. by Mr Frank Ballinger, secretary of the Hokitika Poultry Show. It was a good day. Elena flew the distance in 27min; Boy Blue half a minute and Darkie three-quarters of a minute later. Of the 23 birds in the race, all returned to their lofts. The next race is to be flown five weeks hence from Reefton.
