GREYMOUTH LADIES. \ ______ MISS TENNENT CHAMPION. The final of the Greymouth Ladies’ Golf Championship was played on Saturday on the Omoto Links under ideal conditions, between Mrs Cunningham and Miss N. Tennent. Miss Tennent, who has been playing fairly consistently right through, secured the coveted honours and accounted for her opponent at the sixteenth green by 4 up and 2 to play. As is usually the case in finals, the golf produced was nothing sensational. It is unfortunate that the rounds of so important an event were unduly rushed. Following is a brief description of, the round:—

Gap.—Mrs Cunningham secured the honour. Neither player got any great distance in drives and seconds also short. Miss Tennent through the green in the third and short in return approach. Mrs Cunningham got green in 3rd and holed in 4 to opponent’s 6. Mrs Cunningham 1 up. River. —Mrs Cunningham took 3 to reach green, whilst Miss Tennent was unlucky in not getting there with drive —former missed short putt for halve in 4. All square. Corner. —Both started well; Mrs Cunningham had a slight advantage. Miss Tennent topped 2nd and reached edge of green in 3rd. Mrs Cunningham’s 2nd was a good one to right of green, but was short in approach. Took 4 to reach the enclosure and missing a putt had to be content with 6 to opponent’s 5. Miss Tennent 1 up. Firs. —Miss Tennent well away, whilst Mrs Cunningham skied hers. Both were on the green with seconds, missed putts and halved in 4. Miss Tennent 1 up. Ribbonwood. —Neither got drives up, Mrs Cunningham striking an obstacle. Seconds were good as also were approaches. A stymie was just avoided and the hole halved in 4. Miss Tennent 1 up. Rochforts.—Miss Tennent doubled Mrs Cunningham’s distance off tee, but latter made good recovery and -topping her 3rd was lucky enough to nearly reach green. Miss Tennent got poor 2nd, and from a bad lie evened up matters with 3rd ; mashied very nicely, but just trifle strong and finished up through green. Mrs Cunningham approached dead and with an excellent pntt won hole 5/6. All square. Tipperary. —Mrs Cunningham topped drive, poor 2nd, but good iron shot for 3rd. Miss Tennent fair drive and 2 good following shots. Both on green in sth, the latter lying handy to pin. Mrs Cunningham went for long putt and nearly sank it. Miss Tennent took hole 6/7. Miss Tennent 1 up. Hawthorn. —Nliss Tennent cleared Hawthorn from tee slight slice, whilst Mrs Cunningham, who had not yet got on to her wood, took out her iron and played short. A nice mashie shot over hedge carried the green and her 3rd struck back of tin and nearly disappeared. A sure 4 was on the cards until Miss Tennent put up a cruel stymie and halved in 5. Miss Tennent 1 up. Camerons. —Miss Tennent good drive and moderate brassie, but diffed 3rd and pitched 4th close to pin. Mrs Cunningham topped drive and only fair 2nd. Trying to force the 3rd came a thud and topped 4th through green. Miss Tennent taking 2 putts won a bad hole 6/7. She was 46 to her opponent’s 47 at turn. Miss Tennent 2 up. Burn. —Miss Tennent well away and carried ditch, a bad stance caused her to top 2nd. tier 3rd was only fair and the approach was short. Mrs Cunningham was still struggling with wood, but got two good following shots and a nice mashie to the green. Miss Tennent fair 3rd and short in approach, took three more to sink the ball. Mrs Cunningham just missed a 5 and won hole with 6. Miss Tennent 1 up. Crossing. —Both through green and good seconds. Miss Tennent a bogey to her opponent’s 4. Miss Tennent 2 up. Outlook.—Both well over the pond. Mrs Cunningham pushed 2nd close up to Hawthorn, whilst her opponent duffed her 2nd and topped 3rd. Former pulled 3rd to left of green close to style and was wrongly penalised in not being allowed to ground club. Her 4th travelled to far side of green and she had to be content with 6. Miss Tennent reached green with 4th and halved. Mrs Cunningham could not have improved matters had she been allowed to ground club as the ball was lying high and dry. Miss Tennent 2 up. Terrace.—Miss Tennent good drive and 2nd through the green. Mrs Cunningham weak off tee and poor 2nd but 3rd reached the rise. Halved with s’s. Miss Tennent 2 up. Bend.—Fair drives.
