In the billiards contest, Lindrum to-day made a superb break of 2002, and thereby he again left Smith well behind. Lindrum’s visit to the table lasted for 102 minutes. The scores to-night were: Lindrum 21,431; Smith 19,308. The match will finish tomorrow. MRS. LINDRUM DIES. (Received August 24, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 24. Mrs. Walter Lindrum died in a private hospital last night. In consequence, the billiards match between Smith and Lindrum has been abandoned. WRIT AGAINST SMITH. SYDNEY, August 24. Thomas Harrison, journalist, has 1 issued a writ claiming £5OOO against Willie Smith, the billiard player. The cause of the action is not disclosed. ,
Harrison has been granted leave to issue a writ of Ca Re against Smith, on the ground that he is apprehensive Smith will leave the jurisdiction of the Court before the action comes to trial. Bail was fixed at £5050.
