LOST MAN FOUND IN CAVE. SYDNEY, July 20. For over a fortnight, Harold George Wells, a returned soldier pensioner, of Hornsby, had been wandering in the bushlands of the northern suburbs. He was found yesterday weak and emaciated. He could not walk, and ■was almost unable to talk. The case is believed to be a clear one of loss of memory. On July 4, his wife reported his disappearance to the police. Although there were rumours of a strange man wandering aimlessly in the bush, a search for Wells, who is 39 years of age. proved fruitless. Yesterday, a voting man was shooting in a gully in Wahroonga, when he was surprised to see a man lying in a cave. He spoke to the man who did not answer. Approaching closer he noticed that the man was exhausted and pale. The stranger, who proved to be Wells, was carried from the spot, and later transferred to _the caro of the police. His wife was notified, and he was taken‘home, medical attention being imperative. _ ' ' How the man, who is not ot strong physique, subsisted for so long, apparently without food supplies and withstood the rigours of wintei, has surprised, those who know the district.
