MR BENNETT’S CAMPAIGN. (Australian Press Assti.) (By Cable—Press Assn.— Copyright.) VANCOUVER, August 2. Resentment against Mi' Bennett’s attacks on the Australian Treaty is growing stronger daily, and a complete cleavage among the Conservatives is reported. . ‘ A large delegation interviewed the Tory Leader, who is said to have issued an ultimatum to the Provincial Premier, Mr Tolmie, challenging him to debate the merits of the Australian and Sockeye Salmon Treaties. Figures published to-day show that Canada’s exports for the year ended June 30th increased by 147 million dollars compared with the previous year, and the imports increased ,156 millions. Exports to Australia totalled twenty millions, an increase of six millions, and exports to New Zealand totalled eighteen millions, an increase of over six millions. Addressing a meeting at Port Alberoi, on Friday night, Mr Bennett afcked why preference had not been granted to lumber from Canada, when the Australian Treaty was entered into. Australia was now buying more than from Canada.
