HOLIDAY MISHAPS
A DUTCH DISASTER.
(Australian Press Association.) (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.) OSTEND, August 4. A pleasure boat entering the harbour collided close to the wharf with another leaving and sank immediately. Over sixty aboard, mostly old people and children, were thrown into the water. 1 There was no time to lower boats or issue lifebelts. Boatmen nearby rushed to the scene and saved between 30 and 40. Fifteen bodies so far have been recovered. Twenty of the injured were taken to the hospital. FLYING-BOAT MISHAP. LONDON, August 4. A flying-boat broke loose at a pleasure ground at Southend, while revolving at a great speed. The passengers wdre flung out on top of a great crowd, which was transformed into a screaming struggling mass. Twelve persons from the flying boat were taken to the hospital, also eleven from the crowd. It is recalled that four people were killed in a similar accident at Margate last year.
