OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. The Opera House will present “The Foreign Legion,” to-night and again to-morrow night. This should be good news for local motion picture enthusiasts', as the picture is heralded as one of the finest ever produced. The Story concerns a British society man and Army officer who becomes infatuated with an unscrupulous woman, a blonde of indescribable beauty. Her kisses spell disaster. His fate is to be cashiered, from the army and to drop out of sight. He turns up in the French Foreign Legion as a private under the command of his own father, .who had similarly dropped out of sight, before him. The dangerous blonde turns up in Algiers. With her is the hero’s real sweetheart, her sister. How father and son, their identities unknown to one another, lock horns over the adventuress, the unusual military results that ensue and the final working out of the romance makes one of the most gripping life dramas ever screened. SKATING CARNIVAL The plain and fancy skating carnival to be held at McKane’s Hall to-night should be a big attraction. Prizes \vill
be given for the best fancy dresses, ■and the novelties include speed race, potato race and fancy skating. Everyone invited to attend this great attraction. UNITED CLUB SOCIAL. A farewell dance will be tendered this evening to Mr F. V. Dennehy, Secretary of the United Football Club, in the United Pavilion. Members of the Club are specially requested, to attend. Excellent arrangements have been made for the function.
