Mr and Mrs W. Lanini, of Christchurch, are visiting friends on the Coast.
Mr J. S. Ross, of Greymouth, received word yesterday of the death of his mother in Christchurch, and left this morning for that city.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Laing, who have been spending their honeymoon at Dunedin, returned to Greymouth on Saturday.
The death has occurred of Captain Edwards Wing, aged 87, of Onehunga, who was prominent in shipping circles in the Dominion. —Press Assn.
Miss N. Congreve, of Christchurch, arrived at Greymouth on Saturday, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs F. Congreve, Tainui Street.
Mrs I. T. McMahon, postmistress at Brunner, is on sick leave. Mr E. F. Codyre, of the Telegraph Branch, Greymouth, is relieving.
Mr E. R. Moss will leave on Thursday for Oamaru, where he will be a judge at the local competitions. Mr Moss will go thence to Hawera, to act in a similar capacity.

Mr F. Mitchell, secretary of the Central Fund for Earthquake Relief, will arrive in Greymouth to-morrow afternoon, and will meet the Grey local executive, later.
Mr J. D. Burns, Service Telegraph Representative on the Appeal Board, which has been visiting Wellington, returned on Saturday to Hokitika, and today took over from the Postmaster at Hokitika, Mr R. Cox, who goes on annual leave.
The funeral of the late Mr Gilbert Louden (who met with a fatal accident* last week at Dillmanstown) took place yesterday at Kumara, many, friends of the deceased attending. The funeral services at the church and at the graveside were conducted by . Rev. Mr Cocks, of Kumara.
The death took place ; yesterday morning at his residence, Shakespeare Street, of Mr Thomas Clarke. He had been in ill-health for some months, was 67 years of age, and came to New Zealand when a young man, from Southampton. He worked for many years in the Railway Department, and was also a prominent figure in Coast Fire Brigade affairs, having joined the Grey Brigade in 1887, and after serving in various capacities’, being elected in June, 1918, as Superintendent. He held the latter position until April last, when ill-health caused his retirement. As a delegate he'represented the Grey Brigade at many annual conferences held throughout the Dominion. Deceased was also a member of the Greymouth Masonic Lodge and of the Greymouth Old Boys’ Association, of which institution he was a Past President. He had been Past Chief Ranger and auditor of the Foresters’ Lodge, and a Past President of the Greymouth Athletic and Cycling Association. He is survived by a widow and adult family of one son, Mr William Clarke (of Greymouth), and three daughters— Mesdames D. Kerr (Lyttelton) and G. Sutherland (Annat), and Miss Jessie Clarke. The late Mr Clarke will be tendered a Fire Brigadesman’s funeral, vzhich will take place to-morrow afternoon at Karoro . Cemetery.
